Earlier in the year, Jack Dylan (creative director at Creative Knights Magazine) contacted me about using my Maori typeface, Whakarare, within their latest issue. This soon turned into a request to design the cover, which I jumped at. With the main heading, “Business, Power, and the Indigenous Renaissance”, I quickly put together a few sketches with Tūmatauenga (god of war and man) in mind.
To the right you can see the final design, along with some of the initial sketches and development. While the final design we went with wasn't my favourite, it is the strongest in terms of initial impact.
